ATHLETE – East Anchorage High School
Trajan played basketball for East Anchorage High School and graduated from Stellar High School in 1984. He was a top academic student and a consummate athlete. His basketball accomplishments are well known through out the State of Alaska. He brought the talents of Alaskan athletes’ to the nation’s attention. He was a three time All State Player and led his team to three State Championships. He also received recognition as the MVP of basketball in 1994.Trajan also won the threepoint shooting contest at the Capital Classic and at the McDonald’s All-America Game.
Trajan was highly recruited by top basketball colleges across the United States. He settled on Duke University. During his time at Duke, he set a new record for three point shots made (342) and attempted (802). As a senior he became the fifth three-time, first team All- Atlantic Coast Conference choice in school history. Because of his presence and success, Duke agreed to journey north to the UAA Great Alaska Shootout Tournament. He graduated from Duke with a degree in mathematics. Trajan went on to play basketball professionally in the NBA and Europe. While his basketball fame is well known, he was also an exceptional baseball player. He was recruited out of high school to play for the San Diego Franchise. He played in the summers in Alaska for the Anchorage Pilots and in the minor league when not playing basketball.
Trajan is also highly respected for his sportsmanship and generosity. He has willing shared his time and support for many youth activities in Anchorage and throughout the State. He is gracious and dedicated to modeling a healthy and productive lifestyle for other young people. Trajan is currently playing basketball in Russia.
